Quality of Research

Graduate studies at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School are based on research, and are conducted in close cooperation with the Jožef Stefan Institute.

In 2005, Jožef Stefan Institute ranked 84th among the top 500 research & development institutions in the world, according to a study published by Webometrix.

The Third European Report on Science and Technology Indicators for 2003 ranks Slovenia as seventh in the world in terms of scientific contributions in nanotechnology, behind Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, Germany, the USA and France, but ahead of Norway, Japan, and Great Britain.

The Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at the University of Leiden evaluated 13 R&D institutions working in the area of nanotechnology in Slovenia. The Jožef Stefan Institute was ranked first, followed by the University of Ljubljana (as a whole), with the National Chemistry Institute in third place.
