Goals:

Students get knowledge on basic aspect of patent legislation in Slovenia and abroad. They gain knowledge that enables a critical approach to patentability of students' achievements. They learn the proper procedure for patent application from the basic idea to acquisition of an international patent. They also gain basic knowledge on protection of intellectual property rights in individual countries.

Examination:

• Student or a small team of students prepare a complete patent application. The patent application is secret. Any eventual intellectual property right is a property of the student or the team.

• Oral exam, at which the candidate demonstrates his/her knowledge and understanding of the essential course content, and presents how this new knowledge can be included in his/her research project – in front of the course leader and postgraduate's project supervisor; all course and project participants are invited to attend.

Students obligations:

• project work (if a team of students decide for a joint patent application)
• seminar (patent application) and oral exam
