Privacy and Identity, Trust and Reputation Management

Information and Communication Technologies, third-level study programme

Goals:

The main objective of this course is to present threats in Internet regarding privacy protection and identity, trust and reputation management and security mechanisms for mitigation of those threats.

Students should be able to:
• Analyze current state and evaluate threats regarding privacy
• Select appropriate models and mechanisms for privacy provision and identity, trust and reputation management
• Protect privacy sensitive data
• Ensure that legal requirements regarding privacy are met when developing information applications and solutions
• Continue research and development in the area of privacy protection and identity, trust and reputation management

Content:

Introduction:
basic definitions and principles (privacy, personal data, identity, trust, management), threats and risks

Privacy-enhancing technologies:
- on the user side: identity protectors, anonymous credentials, privacy preference languages
- on the service provider side: organisational and monitoring processes, privacy policies
- at communication level: anonymous communication systems, remailers, anonymising web proxies

Identity management:
basics, scenarios, requirements, mechanisms

Systems for trust management:
concepts, models, management, usage

Systems for reputation management:
concepts, models, management, usage

Selected topics in privacy and identity, trust and reputation management in advanced internet systems and technologies (e.g. in cloud computing)
