Program

Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies, third-level study programme

Lecturers:

prof. dr. Tomaž Kosmač
doc. dr. Andraž Kocjan

Goals:

Students become acquainted with biocompatible ceramic materials and products, their fabrication and properties, and their application in biomedicine.

Content:

· Biocompatibility: principles and test methods
· Interaction of tissue and organs with biocompatible ceramic materials and products, biological integration of substitutes
· Overview of the most important bioceramic materials and products in medicine: dental prosthetics, homoelastic hip joints, bone substitutes, synthetic eye lenses, catheters, parts of artificial organs, bioceramic coatings
· Designing, fabrication and pre-clinical testing of bioceramic materials and products
