Cilji:

Prvi cilj je spoznati študente s pomenom obnovljivih virov energije za nadaljni razvoj in obstoj človeštva. Sončna in planetarna energija sta edina, praktično trajna in sonaravna vira, ki lahko, z uporabo sedaj poznanih in tehnologij v razvoju, zadostita vsem potrebam človeštva po energiji brez znatnih emisij. Kako pristopiti k raziskavam in katere so tiste znanstvene osnove in pristopi, ki bodo te vire napravili konkurenčne sedanjim fosilnim gorivom je drugi pomembni cilj predmeta. Tretji cilj pa je seznaniti študente z vodikovo tehnologijo in ekonomijo in jim pokazati, da je vodik izjemen nosilec energije ni pa izjemno gorivo. Ekonomija vodika je tesno povezana s tehnologijami uporabe jedrske in sončne energije,saj je konverzija vode v vodik in kisik danes najbolj učinkovita z elektrolizo, za katero pa potrebujemo velike količine okolju prijazne elektrike. V okviru seminarja in samostojnega študija bodo študenti reševali praktične primere uporabe teh virov in analizirali trenutne dosežke na tem področju v svetu,ter si pripravili osnove tako za praktično delo, kot za bodoče nadaljevanje na doktorskem študiju.

Vsebina:

1. Sončne energija
Pregled sončnega obsevanja, razporeditev, sezonske spremembe. Ostale oblike sončne energije: veter, vodni tokovi, valovi, biomasa. Pretvarjanje sončne energije v toploto: sončne elektrarne (SE), gretje s soncem, solarna arhitektura. Pretvarjanje v elektriko in karakteristike sončnih celic (PV), fizikalni pojavi, zgradba in karakteristike. Večslojne sončne elice, PV paneli in sistemi. Primeri iz ZDA in Evrope. Energetska učinkovitost, stroški in okoljski vplivi. Bodoča vloga sončne energije v energetiki sveta.

2. Geotermalna energija
Pregled značilnosti geotermalnih sistemov – nizkotemperaturna in visokotemperaturna geotermalna polja. Kratek pregled metod za geotermalne raziskaver in izkoriščanje vrelcev. Uporaba geotermalne energije v Sloveniji, Islandiji in drugod po svetu. Geotermalno daljisko gretje,toplotne črpalke in elektrarne. Kogeneracijski sistemi. Energetska učinkovitost, stroški in okoljski vplivi. Bodoča perspektiva geotermalne energije.

3. Vodikova tehnologija in ekonomija
Značilnosti vodika. Elektroliza vode. Napredni hidrolizerji. Drugi viri vodika, reforming (pretvarjanje ogljikovodikov – naravni plin, biogoriva, alkoholi in drugi plini). Uporaba sončne in geotermalne energije za pridobivanje vodika. Sistemi čiščenja. Optimizacijasistemov za pridobivanjevodika. Shranjevanje vodika: komprimiranje (CGH2), utekočinjanje (LH2), metanolizacija (CH3OH), ostali alkoholi in ogljikovodikova goriva. Kovinski hidridi, sestavljeni hidridi in kemične vezave. Novi materiali in napredne tehnologije za shranjevanje vodika – zlitine lahkih kovin, proizvodnja tankih plasti za boljše shranjevanje vodika, uporaba nanotehnologije in uporabnih znanstvenih raziskav za shranjevanje vodika. Ekonomski vidiki sedaj razvitih tehnologij.
