SPACEMED ERASMUS MUNDUS

Joint Master Degree on Physiology and Medicine of Humans in Space and Extreme Environments

The SPACEMED programme is a 2-year full-time European Master’s (120 ECTS) offering a unique integrated interdisciplinary study of the effects of extreme environments, particularly space flight, on humans. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on activities in state-of-the-art laboratories and field studies, including space flight analogues (parabolic flights, Antarctic habitats, experimental bed rest studies) and extreme environments such as high altitude, underwater, and hot, cold, dry, and humid conditions.

The programme is organized by three universities:

  • Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany)
  • Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (Slovenia)
  • Université de Caen Normandie (France)

Students complete their Master’s thesis at one of the partner institutions or with associated partners, including industry, space agencies, and research institutions.

Target students are those holding a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, psychology, kinesiology, medicine, or engineering, or with significant study or experience related to humans in space or extreme environments.
