At the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (IPS), we are pleased to welcome students of the international master’s programme SpaceMed this semester. The programme is jointly organised by IPS, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany), and Université de Caen Normandie (France). It is dedicated to the research and understanding of the effects of space conditions and extreme environments on the human body.
The students experienced a dynamic week under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Igor Mekjavić and Dr. Urša Ciuha: on Tuesday, they visited the Laboratory for Gravitational Physiology in Planica. On Wednesday, they explored the underground microclimate of the Škocjan Caves, specifically Hanke's Channel. Thursday included a visit to the hyperbaric chamber in Valdoltra and the Marine Biology Station in Piran, while Friday concluded with a hike to Monte Santo di Lussari.
Through this programme, students were able to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world research environments while also discovering the natural and cultural richness of Slovenia. Welcome to IPS!
