ERASMUS+ RESEARCH VISIT AT SISSA, TRIESTE
Quantum programming experience in Trieste
Quantum programming experience in Trieste
As a doctoral student, I participated in a short ERASMUS+ traineeship at SISSA in Trieste under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Salles. The topic of my doctoral project in Slovenia involves performing quantum mechanical calculations using existing and validated software packages. The research group I visited is also engaged in developing new software codes and integrating them with established computational tools.
Since I have been interested in the programming aspect of research work since the beginning of my PhD, I saw the visit to Dr. Salles’s group as an ideal opportunity to deepen my knowledge in this field. During the traineeship, I gained extensive experience in scientific programming and software development within a broader research community. The experience changed the way I view the codes I use – I realized there are many possibilities for their further development and adaptation to specific research needs.
In addition to acquiring new scientific experience, I was also part of a diverse international team, which led to inspiring discussions and exchanges of ideas. I am very grateful to the ERASMUS+ program for the financial support that made this visit and the valuable experience at SISSI possible.
