ERASMUS+ STUDY VISIT AT EUROPEAN UNION DRUGS AGENCY (EUDA)
Preparedness for emerging drug challenges
Preparedness for emerging drug challenges
I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in a short, one-week doctoral visit at the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), made possible through the ERASMUS+ program. I worked at the Trends and Analysis sector and Public Health unit, under the supervision of scientific analyst João Matias.
During my visit, I gained valuable knowledge about the new mission of EUDA, which focuses on contributing to EU preparedness on drugs through four main actions: Anticipate, alert, respond, and learn. One main objective of my visit was to give a presentation regarding my work on estimating psychoactive pharmaceuticals and New Psychoactive Substances through wastewater analysis. Following, I had the opportunity to discuss about EU drug market analysis, explore the latest data on wastewater analysis and drugs, and the key insights for policy and practice. This fruitful collaboration gave me the chance to make new professional connections and opened the way for potential synergies, such as a joint analysis in the future.
