The Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (MPŠ) has appointed Dr. Tome Eftimov as Vice Dean for Research and Quality.

Dr. Eftimov is an internationally renowned researcher in the field of artificial intelligence, data science, and advanced machine learning methods. He is employed at the Jožef Stefan Institute and also teaches at IPS and the University of Ljubljana. In recent years, he has been ranked among the top 2% of the world's most cited scientists in the field of artificial intelligence. He leads and coordinates several national and European projects, including the ERA Chair AutoLearn-SI project within the Horizon Europe programme.

His appointment represents a significant strengthening of the research field and quality system at the IPS. Dr. Eftimov represents a younger generation of researchers who confidently combine cutting-edge science, international integration, and modern research approaches. His strong interdisciplinary orientation is particularly valuable, as his experience in combining artificial intelligence with various scientific fields opens up opportunities for even closer cooperation between IPS programmes and for the development of new joint research topics and projects in which our doctoral students will also be able to actively participate.

With the appointment of Dr. Tome Eftimov, IPS is strengthening its focus on research excellence, strategic development of study programmes, and further internationalisation.

We sincerely welcome Dr. Tome Eftimov to the IPS management team and look forward to working together on the further development of the school.
