Short summary:
In this dissertation, we examined different applications of high-throughput sequencing (HTS) in the field of bacteriology. These include: the use of targeted HTS to determine microbiome and resistome in sputum samples; whole genome sequencing and comparative genomics to study plant pathogenic bacteria; and the use of HTS-generated data for genome-informed design of new qPCR tests for specific detection of plant pathogenic bacteria.
