The programme is implemented by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE).

Who can take part

  • European participants aged 13–45, including students and staff at schools and universities, as well as young scholars.
  • Professionals who are actively engaged in strengthening Europe–China relations (including employees and freelancers).
  • Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an experienced adult guardian under 65.
  • All participants should be in good health and fit for international travel.

What the YES programme offers

  • Inter-school and inter-university exchanges
  • Language learning opportunities
  • Short-term study programmes, winter and summer schools
  • Internships and preparatory courses
  • Summer and winter camps (and other formats depending on the host institution)

Costs and support

Costs vary by the Chinese host institution. In many cases, host institutions cover most in-country expenses (accommodation, meals, activities, and local transportation). Some specialised programmes may include tuition fees. Please consult the chosen host institution for exact conditions.

Where to find programmes and how to apply

Interested participants can explore available options on the YES programme website: www.youthlink.cn. Prospective participants are encouraged to contact programme liaisons at the relevant Chinese institutions directly. European institutions wishing to identify a Chinese counterpart for organised group exchanges may contact the Chinese Embassy/Consulates in Europe or CEAIE.

Visa facilitation

Applicants holding exclusive YES invitations issued by CEAIE may be eligible for a three-year multiple-entry F visa, with visa processing fees waived. For details, please consult the Embassy information page: https://si.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/202412/t20241226_11518638.htm

IPS partnerships with China

At present, IPS has one trilateral agreement with China, with Zhejiang University. More information on IPS international cooperation is available at: https://www.mps.si/en/mednarodno-sodelovanje/

Next steps for IPS students and staff

The YES programme offers a practical pathway to expand mobility opportunities for IPS students and to strengthen academic links with Chinese universities. We encourage interested students, doctoral candidates, and staff to review the YES options and get in touch with the IPS International Office for guidance on identifying suitable host institutions and aligning the exchange with study requirements.
