ERASMUS DAYS AT IPS: DISCOVERING LJUBLJANA AND BUILDING CONNECTIONS

Erasmus Days at IPS: Discovering Ljubljana and Building Connections

Published: 16. oct. 2026

As part of Erasmus Days 2026 and the opening of the new academic year, the International Postgraduate School Jožef Stefan (IPS) organised a special welcome activity for its students – a guided tour of Ljubljana, the city where our school is based and which becomes a second home for many of our international students during their studies.

The event brought together more than 55 students, accompanied by several professors. On a beautiful sunny autumn day, participants explored Ljubljana's historical, cultural and architectural treasures, discovered some of its hidden corners, and learned about the stories and traditions that give Slovenia's capital its distinctive character.

The experience was much more than a sightseeing tour. It provided a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow students, exchange experiences, establish new friendships and strengthen connections across different study programmes, countries and cultural backgrounds.

We concluded our enjoyable afternoon with a warm meal at Šestica, one of Ljubljana's traditional restaurants, where conversations continued in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

At IPS, we believe that international higher education is not only about academic knowledge and research excellence, but also about bringing together people, cultures and ideas. Events like this help create an open, inclusive and connected academic community in which students feel welcome and inspired.

We sincerely thank everyone who joined us and wish all our students a successful, inspiring and rewarding academic year!
