In Memoriam: Prof. Dr. Urška Vrhovšek (1968–2026)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Prof. Dr. Urška Vrhovšek, an internationally recognised scientist, distinguished professor, and valued colleague.
Prof. Vrhovšek made outstanding contributions to food metabolomics and foodomics, advancing research in food science and analytical chemistry. Throughout her distinguished career, she worked at the Edmund Mach Foundation in Italy and the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, where she led the Centre for Metabolomics.
She was also a valued member of the MPS teaching community, serving as the course leader of Foodomics. Through her expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication to teaching, she inspired students and contributed significantly to their scientific development.
Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends, colleagues, and students.
She will be deeply missed.
A memorial ceremony will be held on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at 12:00, in Lecture Hall Ž1, Department of Food Science, Biotechnical Faculty, Jamnikarjeva 101, Ljubljana.
