How can you plan a successful research career? Join this event designed for early-career researchers.
The Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (IPS) invites early-career researchers to attend the event “Career Planning and Becoming a Great Scientist”, which will take place on Friday, 12 June 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Large Lecture Hall of the Jožef Stefan Institute and online via Zoom.
The event is designed for researchers at the beginning of their careers and for anyone interested in planning their research pathway and developing an independent scientific career.
The keynote speaker will be Dr Richard Wheeler, an expert in European research projects, artificial intelligence, and research career development. Together with Assistant Professor Dr Tome Eftimov, Vice-Dean for Research and Quality at the IPS, he will discuss the challenges and opportunities that early-career researchers encounter on their path towards becoming independent scientists. Participants will also learn about opportunities available at the European level to support research careers and professional development.

The second part of the event will be dedicated to discussion and questions, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with the speakers.
