Short summary:

Cathepsin B (CatB) is a protease involved in numerous pathological processes. This work reveals the potential structural basis of the species-selective binding of DARPin 4m3 to mouse CatB, as well as similarities in the cleavage specificity of mouse and human CatB, confirming that the mouse model is suitable for investigating CatB-related processes.
