Stress responses in grapevine: gene expression profiling under four stressors and genome editing approaches for phytoplasma resistance
IPS invites you to the Defence of the Doctoral Dissertation by Rebeka Strah titled: Stress responses in grapevine: gene expression profiling under four stressors and genome editing approaches for phytoplasma resistance. The defence will take place on Friday, 16 October 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the NIB Large Lecture Hall (National Institute of Biology, Večna pot 121, 1000 Ljubljana).
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Marina Dermastia.
Co-Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Maruša Pompe Novak.
Short summary:
We studied how grapevines cope with drought, soil salinity, iron deficiency and phytoplasma infection, and which genes different varieties and rootstocks switch on or off. We confirmed that Chardonnay and Zweigelt genes can be edited without adding foreign DNA, a step towards more resistant vines.
